HOMEWARD Bound (Impactful Real Estate News)

May 2020

Laura Petersen

Just about every May I sit down to write Homeward Bound; I write about Mom’s Day. And why not… it is a special day for very, special people.

My Mom used to tell me, seemingly repeatedly, to do this and do that, not to do this and not to do that. ALL, I recall, valuable advice. Looking back on it all these many years later, I can say she was, and still is, a wise woman.

Time reveals, in fact, just about every caring Mother is a Wise Woman. I can see why we carve out a special day each year to acknowledge Moms.

So here is a shout out to all Mom’s – Happy Mother’s Day!!

Mother’s Day is May 10th, my mom has taught me a lot of things in my lifetime, the biggest being NEVER GIVE UP.

Unfortunately, my mom’s mom (my grandma) is no longer here. I am sure that makes her sad this time of year. I know some reading this can relate and have similar stories. For ALL of you whose Mom is no longer with us, may you remember the best about them. In addition to that, there are also many who never knew their Mom due to unfortunate circumstances. I bet someone played that roll in their life and they too deserve a Happy Mother’s Day!

Regardless, we can celebrate this Mother’s Day knowing Moms both here and no longer here are special in more ways than we can count.

Especially the Moms who are sitting right now by their Child’s hospital bed not too far from where I type this…

A Real Estate Company THAT GIVES BACK

You may recall my team and I are on a mission to raise $10,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida(RMHCCF) in 2020. We do that by donating a portion of our income from home sales to this very worthy cause.

Right now, there are families at RMHCCF whose kids are at a nearby hospital trying to beat the Cancer Monster and other nasty debilitating diseases. RMHCCF is one of the best nonprofit facilities at housing and caring for families whose kids are being treated for cancer, devastating accidents, and a myriad of other childhood medical issues. The Mom’s with kids being treated, are most likely NOT thinking about their special day this month. They are simply just being “Mom” doing what a real loving Mom does. God bless them for it.

Your referrals help the kids…

You may know someone considering buying or selling a home. If so, please refer them to our team. Not only will they benefit from our award-winning service, but a very worthy cause will benefit as well.

In order to provide a home away from home that offers comfort and care to parents whose kids are receiving treatment at local hospitals ad medical facilities in Central Florida. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida depends on Sponsorships and Donations.

Just give me a call or pass on my number. Thank you for giving this some thought.

As stated before, our goal is to donate $10,000 to RMHCCF in 2020. With the help of our clients. I am confident we can make this goal happen this year.

Over the last decade plus, of helping hundreds and hundreds of families sell or buy the place they call home, we have met so many wonderful, loving, caring people. We are so grateful. Thank you for reading over this month’s Homeward Bound and thank you for referring anyone you know considering buying or selling to my team. They will be in good hands and a very worthy cause will benefit as well.

Here is a story that I hope will inspire you:

Mallory was born with an anoxic brain injury and spent three months in the NICU. After three live-saving surgeries and several tests later, she was diagnosed with quadriplegic cerebral palsy.

When Mallory needed intensive therapy, her family traveled more than 1,100 miles from Manhattan, Illinois to Florida Hospital in Winter Park and stayed at our Ronald McDonald House.

“We were immediately welcomed with open arms. It was so nice to feel welcomed and to know that we were not alone in our journey,” said Kristina, Mallory’s mother. Kristina remembered returning from Mallory’s therapy sessions and talking with other families at the House. “It was inspiring to hear other guests’ stories and to be in a place where people just understood how it feels when your child needs extra medical care,” she said.

One of the things that truly touched the Gericke family was all kind words they received from the staff.

“Everyone was always so pleased to see Mallory and to know how she did at her therapy that day. She felt like a celebrity!” said Kristina. Kristina said the thing that meant the most to her family was all the love and support they received during their stays at RMH.

“Having the option of a freshly cooked meal if we needed it and a happy, safe place to stay while we focused on Mallory’s treatment … This truly is the House that love built.”

Why I Support Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida:

I remember when I first heard about Ronald McDonald Houses… and I thought it was awesome that there was a place where the whole family could be together as one of the kids was battling a nasty disease. I started paying closer attention to the work they do at those homes. Since then, I have learned that there are a lot of volunteers and truly little staff that run these homes. Many families live right here in the Central Florida area, all coming together for a common cause. That cause is to make sure that when one family member has to be far from home fighting many times for their lives, that these families can all be there together as one of them is overcoming some unfortunate health issues that life unfortunately throws our way.

I take pride in supporting in a way that I can, the good work these people do at RMHCCF. My team rally’s around raising money and donating portions of our income to help Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida in their quest to help families of young people when they need extra space. My team and I are committed to providing outstanding results for buyers and sellers referred to us by our past clients. I have discovered that the three Ronald McDonald Homes of Central Florida share similar commitments to their families; and since their services survive on sponsorships and donations we are happy to contribute and proud to support them.

Over the last decade and a half of helping hundreds of families sell their home and/or buy another, we have met some wonderful, loving, caring people. People like you! So with your referrals you can rest assured that not only will they get the award-winning service we are known for and the guarantee to back it up, but that a solid portion of the income we receive will go toward a very worthy cause: RMHCCF.

If you or anyone you know is considering selling, give me a call or pass on my number.  Thank you in advance for your referrals! My number is 407-566-2555.

Go Serve Big!!!
